Republicans didn’t want the vote without better reform, but Democrats, if you remember…were READY and claimed to have closed the deal BEFORE McCain ever went to Washington. The problem then? Republicans didn’t like the socialist deal the Democrats put forth. So the Republicans set to work to get rid of Democrat inclusions like ACORN and other unecessary provisions. Republicans tried to get those things out and put forth other ideas, including the idea of insurance, to protect main street.
